Celebrity Accounts Compromised for Meme Coin Pumps
Popular television personality Caitlyn Jenner and rapper Rich the Kid made headlines on Sunday, May 26, by sharing meme coin posts from their X accounts, shaking the crypto world. Jenner’s account posted a message saying, “Let’s all win together! Send me some of your favorite memecoins here.” Similarly, Rich the Kid’s account also shared a meme coin post.
However, confusion arose when messages denying a hack attack on Jenner’s account followed these posts, and shortly after, Jenner posted a video saying, “A lot happened today, and yes, my crypto account is real.” Rich the Kid’s post was deleted shortly after. Blockchain researcher CodeXBT noted that there was a crypto wallet behind the posts made by Jenner and Rich the Kid, further raising the possibility of a hack. CodeXBT expressed concerns by saying, “With everyone being hacked, I wouldn’t trust the tweets posted today.”
Altcoin Manipulation Through GiganticRebirth’s Compromised Account
On the same day, prominent crypto investor GiganticRebirth’s account was also targeted by a cyber attack. The attacker took over GiganticRebirth’s account and made posts about Ordi (ORDI) and LUNA2, resulting in sudden price surges in altcoins. ORDI’s price surged by 15% in a short period. LUNA2, however, did not experience as significant movements as ORDI.
It was also revealed that minutes before making the posts, the attacker opened a futures trading position on ORDI specifically on crypto exchanges Binance and OKX. GiganticRebirth stated after the attack that the attacker bribed an X employee to take over the account. GiganticRebirth said, “I was informed that someone connected to Twitter offered a bribe to access my account two months ago, and then security measures were increased. However, if an X employee accepts money for administrative access, security cannot be guaranteed. Elon Musk, fix your operation.”

Lastly, the founder of the Web3 social media platform Friend.tech (FRIEND), Racer, announced that he would be leaving Coinbase’s Base, an Ethereum Layer-2 project. Racer said, “If you find a way to remove friendtech from Base without causing a major issue for users and if we decide it will work, we will pay you $200,000.” Racer’s statements caused a more than 20% drop in the price of the FRIEND token. Jesse Polak, overseeing Coinbase’s Base projects, commented, “I would be sad if the Friendtech team decides to leave Base, but I will respect whatever path they choose.”
